Lawns, shade, a tall iron and glass greenhouse at the centre and a small lending library under the trees. Florentine families use it, which is what makes it different from the gardens on the standard list.
Just above it, in the Orti del Parnaso, a long stone dragon winds down a staircase with the whole city behind it. Climbable, free, and the single most effective thing in Florence for restoring a child’s mood.
