What everybody agrees on

Read across public reviews on Google and TripAdvisor plus Italian local writing in September 2026.

  • Nearly all

The atmosphere is the product. Loud, jokey, and deliberately so, with the owner setting the tone.

  • Most

The walls and ceiling are covered in things customers have written, which is what people photograph.

  • Often

Friday is baccalà day and regulars plan around it.

  • Often

Portions are generous and the Florentine classics are all present.

  • Some

People who wanted a calm meal say so afterwards. This is not the room for it.

What to order

The Friday baccalà if you are here on a Friday. Otherwise the wild boar pasta, and let them steer you on the rest.

Before you go

Best time
Evening, when the room is full and the noise is the point.

Worth doing for dinner.

The sign outside says nothing and the front looks like every other family trattoria in the city. Inside, the walls and ceiling are covered floor to ceiling in scrawl left by customers, the service is loud and deliberately teasing, and the kitchen sends out onion soup, wild boar pasta and a proper fiorentina.

The house calls its own style goliardico, which is roughly student humour with a straight face. If you want a quiet dinner this is the wrong room. If you want the version of a Florentine trattoria that locals actually book, it is the right one.
