Walking up to Fiesole
A climb out of the city on foot through olive terraces and villa walls, ending in an Etruscan hill town with a Roman theatre and the whole valley below.

Bus number seven does it in twenty minutes, but the walk is the point. Steep in places, shaded in others, and it turns a viewpoint into a morning. Take water in summer and start early. Coming down at dusk with Florence lighting up below is the better direction.
