What everybody agrees on

Read across public reviews on Google, TripAdvisor and Yelp in September 2026, plus Italian coffee writing.

  • Most

The garden terrace is why people pick this branch. Outdoor space away from the centre, easy to sit in for an hour.

  • Most

The coffee holds up. Single origin beans from independent growers, and staff who can talk about them.

  • Most

The credentials behind it are documented rather than claimed. Ditta was founded in 2013 by Francesco Sanapo, three times Italian barista champion and later Italian cup taster of the year, who buys micro lots directly from growers.

  • Often

This branch opened in March 2023, ten years to the month after the first one, and was built as a literary cafe with a garden and a newsstand rather than as another coffee counter.

  • Often

Family and dog friendly. There is a baby changing table.

What to order

Filter rather than espresso, which is the point of the place. Ask what is on the single origin list that week and have it brewed rather than pulled; that is the difference the roastery is built around.

Before you go

Getting there
Bus 23 from the centre, or twenty minutes on foot east along the south bank from Ponte Vecchio.
Best time
Weekday mornings. Weekend brunch fills the terrace.
Booking
Possible, and worth it at weekends.
With children
Yes, including a changing table.
Also
Beans sold to take home, and an aperitivo menu in the evening.

Ditta Artigianale opened in 2013 and is largely responsible for the fact that you can now get a decent flat white in this city. The Lungarno branch is the roomiest of them, with outdoor tables and a view of the water.

Good coffee, cocktails later, and food that goes well beyond a cornetto. Busy at weekend brunch, calm on a weekday morning.
