What everybody agrees on
Read across public reviews on Google and TripAdvisor in September 2026.
- Nearly all
The comparison people make is with Boboli: same hill, similar view, far fewer people.
- Most
The baroque staircase running up the slope is the feature everyone photographs.
- Most
The wisteria tunnel is the reason for the crowds it does get, and it lasts only a few weeks in spring.
- Often
There is a cafe terrace partway up with a view over the rooftops.
- Some
It is steep. The garden is built on a hillside and the paths climb.
What to order
Go up the staircase first and come down slowly. Most people do the reverse and miss the view opening behind them.
Before you go
- Getting there
- Costa San Giorgio or the entrance on Via de' Bardi, ten minutes from Ponte Vecchio on the south bank.
- Wisteria
- Roughly mid April to early May, and it varies with the year.
- Ticket
- Often sold together with Boboli, which is worth checking.
The garden climbs the hill behind Ponte alle Grazie with a baroque staircase up the middle and a belvedere at the top. The wisteria tunnel flowers from about mid April to early May and is the one moment it gets busy. It stays quiet the rest of the year because Boboli sits next door and absorbs the entire crowd. Ticketed. There is a cafe on the terrace if you want to sit with the view.
